The installation “En la barbería no se llora” (1994), by Pepón Osorio, reflects a world of rich cultural wealth and complexity. It encompasses both the Puerto Rican diaspora in New York and its surroundings, as well as the everyday realities and contradictions of Puerto Rican culture here on the island. This year, MAPR draws inspiration from this kitschy, extravagant, and diverse scenography for its Grand Gala.
